My wife, Jean, and I chose to come to Murphy.  We’re originally from Florida and spent the last few years living in Atlanta before our move here.  Our goal was to find a quiet little mountain town away from the mad rush of the big city, yet convenient to a large enough city where we could shop if we wish.  Friends of ours invited us to come visit them in Murphy.  That’s when we discovered this special place in the Smoky Mountains.  After our visit, we found ourselves wishing that we could move to this wonderful part of the country too.  It wasn’t long before we found a way and here we are. 

While driving through Murphy and the area around it, you’ll find some of the most beautiful scenery around - spectacular mountain views, rolling pasture land, lush green forests to explore, sparkling lakes and rivers to fish, raft and swim in.  The local people are friendly and make you feel right at home.  There are plenty of things to do - crafts, festivals, flea markets, and the well-known John Campbell Folk School with its special variety of entertainment.
